Thurrock: Dead biker named

A motorcyclist who died on the Lakeside Shopping Centre perimeter road in the early hours of Tuesday has been named as 18-year-old Lee Hansford from Romford.

The incident happened at around 2am close to the Marks and Spencer store and the victim was declared dead at the scene.

An Essex Police spokesman said he was riding towards West Thurrock Way when the bike, a Suzuki 550cc machine, was in collision with a mobile crane parked at the side of the road and in use at the time.

Nobody else was injured at the time.
