New ways of saving a famous coastal landmark from slipping into the sea are set to be adopted.
Thousands of tonnes of rock have been put around the south side of the Walton coastline in a bid to protect the Naze which is eroding.
However, a long-awaited report now claims the scheme will not work.
Today cash-strapped Tendring councillors said they will consider what to do next.
Walton councillor Mick Page today pledged: "We will not give up."
One recommendation is to protect the crumbling cliff and property by trying to include the area in the district coastal protection scheme.
The scheme is partially funded by Tendring Council but is also being financed by the Environment Agency.
