Harwich: Ferry service is axed

From the archive, first published Thursday 2nd Nov 2006.

Fans of a high-speed ferry service have only two months to say their last goodbyes.

The Stena HSS Discovery, which sails from Harwich to the Hook of Holland in only three hours and 40 minutes, will be de-commissioned from January 8.

The high-profile service has been axed after spiralling fuel costs and competition from low-cost airlines.
